PanARMENIAN.Net – Remarks delivered by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on May 20 and 28 are evidence of the country’s Armenophobic and bellicose policies, Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan said on Tuesday, June 1.

Tatoyan said Aliyev’s speeches have been sent to the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, as well as to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the Council of Europe Commission against Racism and Intolerance, the UN Commissioner for Human Rights, and other international agencies.

In one his recent speeches given amid Azerbaijan’s incursion into Armenia, Aliyev made fresh threats against the Armenians: “If there is even a small threat to the state security of Azerbaijan, the enemy will be destroyed immediately and on the spot.”

“The President of Azerbaijan speaks in the language of force and threat, uses such rhetoric and words that aims to insult the dignity of the entire Armenian people, the entire population of Armenia and Artsakh, and causing tension among the Armenian society,” Tatoyan said.

“These speeches seek to emphasize the advantages of the Azerbaijani people over the Armenian people, based solely on ethnicity.”
