PanARMENIAN.Net – Azerbaijan’s provocative steps and maximalist aspirations create new threats for Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told a government meeting on Thursday, July 22, commenting on the situation in the region.
Pashinyan stressed Russia’s role as “key” for ensuring stability and security in the region.
“I still believe that Azerbaijan intends to hinder the implementation of trilateral statements from November 9 to January 11, in particular, the part about the opening of regional communications and unblocking Armenia,” Pashinyan said.
He also stressed that Armenia is ready for launching the process of peace negotiations.
Azerbaijani forces violated Armenia’s border in several sections in the provinces of Syunik and Gegharkunik on May 12 and 13 and are still refusing to withdraw their troops from the area. Two Armenian servicemen were killed in Azerbaijan’s shooting, while six troops were captured on May 27, although four of them have already returned home.
