COVID-19 antibodies can last for at least 12 months, study says

Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi has presented the preliminary results of COVID-19-related research, which has been carried out by university specialists since May 2020 in cooperation with YSMU young researchers, clinical residents, students.

A total of 8,000 tests were performed on about 1,500 patients who overcame COVID-19 infection. Participants in the research were monitored for one year on a monthly basis and continue to be monitored.

The result showed that COVID-19 is indeed a new coronavirus infection. In 6-7% of cases, no antibodies were found after the disease. However, there were cases, where antibodies remained in COVID-19 patients for more than a year.

In one case a person with antibodies caught the infection again.

Armenia receives 27,500 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine

Armenia has received a donation of 27 500 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from Lithuania. EU Civil Protection Mechanism was activated in order to support the transportation of the vaccine cargo, the EU Delegation to Armenia reports.

Armenia reports 636 new Covid-19 infections

Armenia: Over 770 Covid patients in serious or critical condition

PanARMENIAN.Net – More than 770 coronavirus patients in Armenia are in serious or critical condition, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan told a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, September 2.

Avanesyan said some 10% of all the Covid-19 tests performed in the country return positive, noting that the new Delta variant is highly contagious and comes with more severe consequences. Children under the age of 6 entering Armenia will not be required to take a PCR test

Children under the age of 6 entering Armenia will not be required to take a PCR test, the Ministry of Health informs.

Relevant amendments have been made to the government decision of 11 September 2020 on the establishment of quarantine due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Previously the requirement was removed for children up to 1 year old.

The decision enters into force on September 6.

EU, WHO hand over 30 medical refrigerators for vaccine storage to Armenia

The European Union and the World Health Organization handed over 30 medical refrigerators for vaccine storage to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.

The Chargé d’affaires a.i., EU Delegation to Armenia Jan Plešinger, RA Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan, and the Special Representative of WHO in Armenia were at the National Center for Disease Control to receive the equipment and discuss the upcoming procurement and technical assistance.
