Armenia to build new village from the scratch

For the first time in the history of the third Republic of Armenia, a new village will be built from scratch. The decision was approved at the cabinet meeting today.

The Government gave a green light to the Action Plan for Acquisition and Resettlement of Lands under the Joint Water Resources Management/Akhuryan River, Phase 1 project.

On December 19, 2014 a loan agreement was signed between the Republic of Armenia and the Bank for Reconstruction and Development (KfW), which, in particular, envisages the implementation of the Construction of Kaps Reservoir and Gravity Irrigation System.

Armenia’s Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs plans to establish a new childcare institution, the Crisis Support Center for Children and Families in Gyumri.

It will be established by merging the Gyumri City Child Care Center and the Gyumri Fridtjof Nansen Child Care and Protection Boarding School No. 2 State Non-Commercial Organizations (SNCO).

 According to the project, vulnerable children aged 0-18 in Shirak and neighboring regions will receive social assistance, with a caregiver if necessary, 24 hours a day.

Children aged 0-18 will receive round-the-clock support and care for a maximum of six months, and children aged 2-18 will receive day support services for a maximum of one year.

The Armenian Educational Foundation’s Board of Directors and Scholarship Committee announced the 2020-2021 Richard R. Tufenkian Scholarship Award recipients. Three $3,000 scholarships have been awarded to Armenian undergraduate students at accredited United States colleges or Universities. To qualify for this scholarship, students had to be of Armenian descent, have a minimum 3.0 grade point average, show financial need, and be actively involved in the Armenian community.

In total, 51 applications were received for the Richard R. Tufenkian Scholarship. The committee diligently reviewed and selected the following three students.</p
