Emails underscore UK role in Armenian mining dispute
On coming to power in May 2018, protest leader Nikol Pashinyan ordered inspections in Armenia’s mining industry. Pashinyan subsequently appointed a new head to the country’s official mining and environmental inspection unit, choosing environmental lawyer and civic activist Artur Grigoryan. The inspection, a state administrative body, began an inspection of Amulsar, alongside other mines, in early July 2018.
Despite Pashinyan’s claims that the Amulsar protests were a form of ‘sabotage’ against the new government, the campaign against the mine continued, provoking counter demonstrations by Lydian employees in Yerevan, the Armenian capital. The tense post-revolutionary situation appeared to be taking a toll on a major foreign investor, with Lydian Armenia director Hayk Aloyan reporting on 2 July that the company had experienced financial losses as a result of the protests.

Political disaster in Brussels
BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21
The public flogging of Yerevan in Brussels on June 18-19 on the sidelines of a video conference of leaders of the EU countries and the Eastern Partnership is nothing but a political catastrophe in Brussels for Armenia.
During these two days, all the EU institutions without exception adopted an unprecedented number of documents that can be briefly described in two words as the political catastrophe for Armenia.
Former President of the European Council, now President of the European People’s Party Donald Tusk, the leader of the party with the biggest number of MPs in the European Parliament and represented in the EU leadership by ten commissioners, including President of the European Commission Ursula van der Leyen, made an official statement on this topic several hours before the Summit.

Pashinyan and Harutyunyan Chair Joint meeting of Armenia and Artsakh Security Councils
YEREVAN — Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused Azerbaijan on Friday of hampering a compromise solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with “maximalist” demands and territorial claims to Armenia.
Pashinyan launched scathing attacks on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as he chaired a meeting of Armenia’s and Karabakh’s Security Councils. He complained that Aliyev has never reciprocated his repeated calls for an Armenian-Azerbaijani peace deal that would satisfy all parties to the conflict.
“It is obvious that with such [Azerbaijani] approaches we cannot anticipate real progress in the negotiation process, especially given that they are accompanied by war threats or territorial and direct or indirect historical claims to the Armenian people,” said Pashinyan.
Aliyev, he said, realizes that Baku’s attempts to end the conflict by force would provoke a “more than adequate response” from the Armenian military.
“For more than 15 years [

Newspaper: What will be consequence of appellate court decision regarding ex-President …
YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: Almost all judges in Armenia are terrified.
